Portfolio About Videoblog
16 mm camera Etherworks

What's etherworks?
It's my personal website. It's always been a place where I've shown my films, and since 2001, it's been my blog, too. I started videoblogging in January of 2005.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised on Galiano Island, BC. Son of a logger. I've been living in Montreal, Quebec, since 1997. I moved here to go to school. Montreal is a tender trap.

What do you do?
I work for the Montreal documentary production company EyeSteelFilm, where I've been since 2001. I've been lucky to work as an editor, cameraman, post-production supervisor, music supervisor, web designer and director, all in one place. My largest project at EyeSteel is The Homeless Nation, a website we are creating to bridge the digital divide, encouraging the street community to use digital tools to express themselves.

What's up with videoblogging?
Videoblogging mixes video (yup) with RSS. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) provides a mechanism for users to subscribe to websites and be automatically notified any time the page is updated. This is cool because you can post bigger files, and you can have conversations with people who subscribe to your life. You subscribe to their site, too. Ideas and stories are shared. This is a good explanation. This will help you get started.

What else?
Married, Piscean, meat-eating, canuck-loving, green-grass over there seeking rednecked worry wart islander.
